Remember that New Yorker profile about Succession star Jeremy Strong that went viral last year, partly for how impressively intense it made him seem?
Well, now you can judge for yourself. On Thursday, Strong appeared opposite Stephen Colbert for his first ever late night talk show — and while he’s certainly serious about his craft, and gives some solidly earnest answers, he also comes across as a really sweet guy.
Colbert, of course, does his best to get to the heart of the real Jeremy Strong, at one point asking some deep questions from the famous Proust Questionnaire, which is supposedly designed to reveal a person’s true nature.
The good news is that this produces what may be the greatest talk show answer of all time, when Colbert asks Strong: “If you were to die, and come back as a person or thing, what would it be?”
His response? “I was torn between a hummingbird and a mote of dust in an old book store.”
