Only Murders in the Building fans got an unexpected treat on Saturday.
Selena Gomez was joined in a sketch by OMITB co-star Steve Martin during her debut as a Saturday Night Live host. The legendary comedian, whose list of bonafides is too long to list here (but includes tons of SNL appearances), popped up in a pre-taped, documentary-style sketch about the joys of invention.
Gomez plays the host of a fictional docuseries about great American inventors that profiles Archie Gizmo (Martin), who claims to have invented every cheesy prank gadget of yesteryear with the help of his muse, played by Aidy Bryant. Aside from the obvious delight of seeing Steve Martin pop up in anything, this whoopee cushion-filled sketch also harkens back to Martin’s past as a prop comic.
It also proves that a good fart joke is timeless.
