As protests against police brutality continue to rage in all 50 states, Stephen Colbert began his Wednesday night opening monologue by noting that the Minneapolis police officers involved in the death of George Floyd have now all been charged — Derek Chauvin, who knelt on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes until he died, had his third-degree murder charge escalated to second, and the other three officers present were charged with aiding and abetting.
“Activism works. Justice is possible,” said Colbert. “Easy, peasy, hold protests for nine days straight in 380 American cities… squeezy.” Read more…
