A powerful photo from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the eye of Hurricane Dorian, now a Category 5, provides yet more confirmation of the strength of the storm.
The image shows the wing of a plane in front of the eye wall of Dorian, which looks scooped out, or sloped like a bowl or sports stadium. According to the tweet accompanying the image, this “stadium effect” is sometimes observed in strong hurricanes.
