What do you do when you can’t see yourself directly represented on the screen? Find a character, point at them, and say “big mood.”
This is especially true in the realm of animation, where it feels like an uphill battle to find stories that reflect any positive sense of the trans experience. Some TV shows and movies, especially for kids, seem to be testing the waters of mainstream LGBT+ acceptance. Adding same-sex couples as background characters and subtle expressions of queer love is definitely a big win in modern-day cartoons.
