Netflix’s Kingdom blew us away with its fresh take on zombies in 16th century Korea over two seasons, and now the streaming giant is releasing a spinoff that appears just as brutal.
Set to run as a 92-minute special episode, Kingdom: Ashin of the North takes us back to the kingdom of Joseon, where Ashin (Jun Ji-hyun) is set on a path of archery-fuelled vengeance following a violent tragedy.
Penned by Kingdom writer Kim Eun-Hee and directed by Season 1’s Kim Seong-Hun, the lengthy episode seems to follow a path littered with brutal battles, ferocious creatures, and a mysterious disease that seems linked to plants — yes, that means more zombies.
Kingdom: Ashin of the North lands on Netflix July 23. Meanwhile, Kingdom Seasons 1-2 are now streaming on Netflix.
