Did you ever stop to think whether R.L. Stine or Stephen King cranked out so many horror books over the years because a witch was demanding them to on pain of death?
Well, that’s what Netflix’s upcoming spooky thriller Nightbooks might have you thinking, with the trailer channelling Goosebumps energy with a little more edge to it. Evil Dead‘s Sam Raimi is producing, and there are plenty of jump scares.
Jessica Jones‘ Krysten Ritter plays a frankly terrifying witch who traps Alex (Winslow Fegley), a kid obsessed with scary stories, and demands he write a new one every night or he’s toast. Alex finds Yasmin (Lidya Jewett) also trapped in this strange, magical apartment, and they’ve got to get out of there before The End.
Nightbooks lands on Netflix soon, date TBC.
