Pelosi has gained a lot of attention for tearing up a copy of Trump’s speech at the State of the Union, with Republicans reacting as though she shredded the Declaration of Independence and used the strips to wipe her ass. There’s no doubt it was a pointed moment, but the Republican indignation has been comically outsized. Fox News host Melissa Francis even claimed Pelosi was essentially tearing up African-Americans.
