It’s your last chance to get the Tonal before it gets $500 more expensive

Attention, crowded gym haters: If you’ve been daydreaming about working out at home with Tonal, set a reminder to click that “checkout” button before the end of January.

Since its first price increase from $2,995 to $3,495 in July 2022, Tonal already runs customers a casual $2,000 more than the $1,495 Lululemon Studio Mirror. Now, the company is upping the price of the smart home gym (again) and the accompanying membership. The first increase goes into effect after Jan. 31, when the price of the Tonal trainer smart home gym package will go from $3,495 to $3,995 (installation, smart accessories, and more not included). Financing is available for as low as $73/month.

Tonal’s justifications for the price increase range from supply chain expenses to software and content improvements to physical hardware tweaks. It will now retail for $1,000 more than its original debut price — a tough pill to swallow for the current state of inflation. We stand by the fact that Tonal is a worthwhile investment for people who are serious about working out, but recommend getting your hands on one before the price increases.

At the end of the day, the in-depth fitness tracking and AI features like automatic weight adjustment and a digital spotter offer the smartest, most complete, and arguably most enjoyable strength training experience of the current smart fitness mirror market.

The second price hike will be reflected in Tonal membership bills, where the monthly cost will show up as $59.95 rather than the previous $49 starting on Feb. 21. (Current Tonal members still get to enjoy the $49/month price until their 12-month membership renews.) The only loophole, of course, is buying your Tonal and starting your initial 12-month commitment before this date (technically before Jan. 31 if you also want to save $500 on the Tonal itself).

The extra $500 you’ll avoid paying on the device itself will almost completely cover the $588 that the monthly membership adds up to over a 12-month span.
