The Premier League is coming to the U.S., y’all.

Six Premier League teams — Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Fulham, and Newcastle United — are coming to five U.S. cities for the first ever Premier League Summer Series. The nine-game tournament kicks off July 22 in Philadelphia and you can watch all the action live from your couch.

What’s the Premier League Summer Series?

Think of the Summer Series as a little sneak peek into the 2023-2024 Premier League season, which kicks off in August. This summer, the teams will battle it out in a friendly tournament that blends pre-season prep with a competitive edge. This is only the second time a Premier League competition has been held outside of England and reflects the growing popularity of soccer in the States. The brand-new summer tournament will give U.S. fans a Premier League experience for the first time.

“I think this will be the first of many,” said Alan Shearer, the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer, in a ProSoccerTalk interview. “It wouldn’t surprise me at all if this was going to happen every single season. It will be a great tournament and a chance to see some Premier League legends and huge football clubs.”

Is the Premier League Summer Series on cable in the U.S.?

Unfortunately, only two of the nine Premier League Summer Series games will air on cable in the U.S. — the final two. On Sunday, July 30, cable viewers can watch the 12:00 p.m. game between Aston Villa and Brentford on the USA network, as well as the 2:45 p.m. game between Chelsea and Fulham on NBC. For every other game, you’ll need a Peacock subscription.

How to watch the Premier League Summer Series without cable

Thanks to NBC’s Peacock streaming service, fans can tune into every game of the EPL Summer Series at home. If you’re already a Peacock subscriber, you’re good to go. For everyone else, you can sign up for Peacock Premium or Premium Plus, which cost $5.99 or $11.99 for a monthly subscription, or $59.99 or $119.99 for an annual subscription. You might also qualify for a free or discounted subscription (more on that below).

How to watch the Premier League Summer Series for free in the U.S.

While Peacock is one of the only streamers that offers a free tier for viewers (although there’s a weird workaround to get there), you’ll need at least a Premium subscription to access live sports coverage, including the Premier League Summer Series. Fortunately, there are a few ways to secure a Premium subscription for free. However, if you don’t qualify for the free options, all hope is not lost. There’s also a coupon code (live at the time of writing) that’ll knock the usual price down significantly. Listen up.

Best for Xfinity customers

While Xfinity’s original Peacock deal ended on June 26, select customers can still secure a free subscription. If you’re an Xfinity internet customer with gigabit speeds, you can receive Peacock Premium for free for two years. Xfinity internet customers who are diamond or platinum rewards members can redeem a reward to receive Peacock Premium at no additional cost. Just sign into xfinity.com/rewards, select the Peacock reward, and wait for an email with instructions on how to activate the offer. NOW TV customers can also receive Peacock Premium for free as part of their service.

Finally, customers who previously received Peacock Premium for free with their X1 or Flex service, but are not eligible for the other offers above, can sign up for Peacock Premium through August 25 at a discounted rate of $2.99/month for 12 months.

Best for new subscribers

If you’re new (or returning) to Peacock and don’t qualify for the Xfinity or Spectrum deal, you can still score a significant 67% off an annual Premium subscription with the code N2TEWDZZ. We tested the code at the time of writing and it was still valid. Just choose the annual Peacock Premium subscription and click the box that says “Have a promo code?” at checkout. Type in the code N2TEWDZZ and hit “apply” to see the price drop down to just $19.99 (which works out to just $1.67/month). With a year of Peacock, you’ll be able to watch games from the 2023-2024 Premier League season as a bonus.

Other ways to watch the Summer Series

As for the games that air on USA Network and NBC (the last two games), non-cable subscribers can also watch live via a live TV streaming service like Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, or FuboTV. These services aren’t cheap, but you do get your money’s worth with access to live and local channels spanning news, sports, entertainment, and more. Plus, some of them offer free trials, which would allow you to access the games on July 30 for free, then cancel. Here are your best options.

Best trial

YouTube TV offers the most bang for your buck as a cable alternative. Mashable shopping reporter Leah Stodart called it “arguably the best premium live TV streaming service out there.” Not only does it offer NBC networks, including USA, to watch the Premier League Summer Series, but it also includes over 100 different channels, unlimited DVR space, and a solid introductory offer. The 10-day free trial will allow you to tune into the last two games of the Summer Series, plus test the waters to decide if you want to keep your subscription. After 10 days, you’ll pay just $64.99 per month for three months ($72.99/month thereafter).

Best sports coverage

Fubo TV is the best cable TV alternative for sports fans who want to watch more than just the Summer Series live. You’ll get popular and obscure sports channels like The Big Ten Network, beIN Sports, the Olympics channel, and Fox sports, so you can keep tabs on your favorite teams and never miss a second of the action. Fubo TV offers a generous seven-day trial for you to test the waters (and watch two of the games in the Summer Series for free), then will cost you $74.99 per month unless you cancel.
