As with all electronics, your iPad Pro should occasionally be turned off and restarted. Apple had to change the process between generations, so newer iPads require an extra step. Here’s how to power down your iPad Pro Face ID or Home Button model.
Turn Off Your iPad Pro with Face ID
If you have one of the newer iPad Pros manufactured in 2018 or later with Face ID, Apple has made the process of turning off the tablet slightly cumbersome. Holding down the Power Button now triggers Siri, so an extra step is necessary for the shut-down process.
First, press and hold the Top/Power Button and either Volume Button at the same time. Continue holding both buttons until the “Slide to Power Off” slider appears at the top of the display.
Slide the on-screen power button to the right to turn off the iPad Pro.
After several moments, your iPad Pro’s display will go blank. The tablet is now turned off.
Turn Off Your iPad Pro with Home Button
The process of turning off the older iPad Pros is more straightforward.
Press and hold the Top/Power Button for several seconds until the “Slide to Power Off” slider appears at the top of the display.
