Starting in early 2024, Amazon Prime Video will follow an ad-supported streaming model. Prime members who don’t want to see advertisements must pay an extra $3 each month. It’s a disappointing change of pace—after all, Prime memberships cost $139 annually. But this heel-turn comes as no surprise. Most major streaming services, including Netflix, Max, and Disney+, now charge extra for an ad-free experience. (However, Amazon promises that it won’t increase the price of Prime in 2024.)
