We’re in the midst of a pandemic, and more and more developers are working in isolated environments or from home. With our webinar series Devs@Home we want to counteract this social distance by bringing developers stuck in their homes together with tech talks – by professionals for professionals!
Thursday, April 23, 13:00 CET – Building CLI Tools With NodeJS
Webinar with Joel Lord
Nobody questions building back ends with Node.js anymore. It’s proven itself and is widely accepted as a great platform for web servers. But have you ever thought of building CLI tools with Node.js? Turns out that Node.js is also great at that. By using just a few simple built-in modules, you can create powerful tools that can be used in terminals in all operating systems. In this talk, the attendees will learn how to use those modules through some practical code samples and demos.
The webinar will take place on the BigMarker webinar platform and is freely open to all. Join us by clicking the following link:

The speaker
Joel Lord is passionate about web and technology in general. He likes to learn new things but most of all, he likes to share his discoveries. He does so by traveling to various conferences all across the globe. He graduated from college in computer programming in the last millennium. Apart from a little break to get his BSc in computational astrophysics, he has always been in the industry. As a developer advocate with Red Hat OpenShift, he meets with developers to help them make the web better by using best practices around Kubernetes. During his free time, he can usually be found stargazing in a camping site somewhere or brewing a fresh batch of beer in his garage.
Devs@Home
Due to the coronavirus, social events all over the world have been restricted and office work has largely shifted to the home.
So if the majority of us are now spending time working from home, it just makes sense that we should want to network more closely. Several IT experts who are usually to be found at one of our conferences were enthusiastic about the idea of holding their talks from home and sharing them with others in their homes via live stream.
Tech talks from your desk
Devs@Home aims to provide live talks twice a week on topics like Java, TypeScript, DevOps, microservices, machine learning, etc. Afterwards you will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the experts.
