In case you haven’t heard, you need to wash your hands. Yes, this spike in handwashing interest stems from the coronavirus, or COVID-19 as it’s officially named, but you should be scrubbing your grubby little hands regardless. This should seem obvious, but apparently some people need reminded. Ya nasties.
The best way to wash your hands is to wet them thoroughly, squeeze out enough soap —yes, you really need to use soap — to fully cover your hands, rub your hands together for at least 20 seconds (or sing Happy Birthday twice), rinse, and dry. So simple!
Hand sanitizers with at least 60 percent alcohol do an OK job at reducing germs, but nothing beats washing your hands with soap and water. Plus, good luck even finding hand sanitizer that isn’t being sold by a third party at a ridiculously inflated price.
