The Most Read Books on Goodreads This Week

A new month has brought a new list of the most read books on Goodreads. Kind of. You see, a few of the top 5 are new compared to the last time we did a weekly roundup (January 24th), but they’re going to mostly be familiar to you if you’ve been following these roundups for awhile. Apart from two brand new releases by mega popular authors, you’ve probably seen these books make this list before. With that said, one of the new books did have a huge release that had us thinking back to the good ole days of midnight releases parties and lines wrapped around the building for new releases.

Before we get to the list, as always, we want to highlight a few books by diverse authors since there are so few that turn up in the Goodreads most read roundup. Since it’s February, we’re keeping it nice and romantic.

Two New Books Out This Week You Should Know About

I Got Abducted by Aliens and Now I’m Trapped in a Rom-Com by Kimberly Lemming

“I would not be me if this weren’t the first February book I mentioned. You would have to ask if I was the one who was kidnapped by aliens if I didn’t. This one sounds very much like a sci-fi version of the irreverence we were able to laugh through in Lemming’s Mead Mishaps series, and I am here for it. In the wildest what-in-the-Wizard-of-Oz abduction story, wildlife biologist Dorothy is being chased by a lion when she (and the lion) get abducted by aliens, as it says. They manage to escape, only to end up with different aliens, both of whom would make excellent love interests. They are also dinosaurs? I think? There’s a lot going on, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.” — Jessica Pryde

“The third and final book in the Las Leonas trilogy, Tropical Rebel brings us back to Paris, where Aurora is running an underground women’s clinic. When she finds herself in the protection of Duke Apollo César Sinclair Robles, the pair become unlikely confidantes. Unfortunately, neither is in a truly safe position in the city of Paris, so Apollo whisks Aurora off to the French Riviera, where they have nothing to focus on but each other.” — Jessica Pryde

#5:

The Housemaid (The Housemaid, #1) by Freida McFadden

Danika Ellis wrote about this in the last weekly roundup, which I will include here: “This is the first book in Freida McFadden’s Housemaid series, followed by The Housemaid’s Secret and The Housemaid Is Watching. It follows a housemaid who cleans for a wealthy family, takes care of their child, and lives in their attic bedroom. She’s soon pulled into the family’s dangerous secrets, but her employers may have underestimated what she’s capable of.”

The weekly readers are a bit down from January 24th’s roundup, though (21,624 compared to 26,000).

#4:

I guess we’re switching things up a bit, since, yes, this is a Freida McFadden joint, something that is commonly found on these kinds of lists these days, but it’s different from the one that showed up on the weekly list we did on January 24th, so hey! It follows poor Tegan, who is eight months pregnant when she decides to escape her crappy life. It’s not until she starts driving that she realizes she’s heading straight into a blizzard.

This just came out January 25th, and already there are 69,974 ratings and 40,905 people who have read it this week.

#3:

Iron Flame (The Empyrean, #2) by Rebecca Yarros

That Yarros reign just won’t let up! This is the second book in her romantasy series, and had 49,905 people read it this week.

#2:

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros Book Cover

Fourth Wing (The Empyrean, #1) by Rebecca Yarros

The last time we looked at weekly Goodreads numbers, this book was #1—maybe in anticipation of the release of Onyx Storm, maybe not. Either way, it’s got all the steaminess and dragons your heart—and the 50,950 who read it this week—could desire.

#1:

cover of Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros; black and grey with gold detailing and white font and black dragon outline in center

Onyx Storm (The Empyrean, #3) by Rebecca Yarros

Whether you like romantasy or not, you have to appreciate how this series has brought us so back. It’s the first time in like forever that a book has had people camped outside waiting before stores even open. And, honestly, we need more of that energy!

Plus, 225,583 people read it this week alone.
