“Papa wants to get his peach wet.” A string of words you never thought you’d hear from the mouth of Stephen Colbert.

The topic? Dating apps, in case you hadn’t read between the lines there.

In his recurring segment “Romansplaining,” Colbert sets about unpacking the latest trends in the weird and wonderful world of dating. This time, he’s turning his attention to dating apps.

You’ll likely be familiar with the mainstays of the dating app world — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, Grindr, and Her. But there are innumerate dating apps that you might not be quite so familiar with. Some are gimmicky, some are not long for this world, and some might just be the next big thing. Heavy emphasis on the ‘might’ there.

As Colbert explains, there’s Snack, which describes itself as “not your parents’ dating app.” There’s Schmooze, a meme-based dating app, which frankly sounds right up Mashable readers’ street.

Then there’s Gen Z app Fruitz, which seemingly uses fruit emoji to communicate the type of relationship users are looking for.
