The Blockchain Technology Conference has come to an end but now’s the perfect time for an overview of the most important takeaways.

Speaking of takeaways, we talked to Michał Zieliński, co-founder of Craftchain and speaker at the Blockchain Technology Conference, about the role of UX/UI in blockchain’s adoption. According to him, the adoption of this technology rests on two simple questions: “what’s in it for me?” and “will I need to change or learn something?”.

While there are many witty developers improving and innovating the blockchain technology, only a few ask themselves how blockchain-based applications need to be presented to the consumer to ensure a seamless adoption. We discussed the status quo and the current challenges for UX/UI design in blockchain projects, the importance of UX/UI in the context of blockchain applications and how to start making improvements today.

• Very often, the technical part [of creating a blockchain application] is great but the product is not really matching the user’s standards. It’s going to be challenging to adapt the culture of blockchain to users who are beginners.
• Blockchain applications need to be visually attractive but also very functional and this is where the problem starts. The user has to spend too much time and it’s too complicated so he gets frustrated.
• The legislation is not ready for the blockchain; it is adjusting but this is still a major challenge. you can’t skip any elements (when creating a blockchain application) because they are obligatory.
• Most decentralized applications are not user-friendly so we really need to create applications that are accessible to everyone.
• If we don’t implement changes now (to blockchain applications), blockchain’s adoption is going to be really difficult.
• You should only use blockchain if you see its value. If not, it is unnecessary.
• The real value of blockchain lies in lower fees, faster transactions etc.
