Send in the dancing lobsters: Quibi is almost here!
Launching April 6, the fledgling streaming service promises “quick bites” to viewers seeking mobile-optimized content lasting less than 10 minutes. On Friday, Quibi announced it would roll out 50 titles at launch — with a promise of 175 shows by the end of year one.
The service is currently priced at $4.99 per month with ads or $7.99 per month ad-free, but will offer a 90-day free trial to anyone who visits Quibi.com and signs up before April 6.
Quibi’s series are broken into three categories. “Movies in Chapters” deliver bigger stories in multiple installments lasting 7-10 minutes each. “Unscripted and Docs” encompasses all of Quibi’s reality and documentary programming, ranging from food and travel to dating and true crime, all under 10 minutes. “Daily Essentials” promises 5-6 minute topical segments on a variety of subjects including news, weather, pop culture, sports, and more.
